About the Job:
T.C. Ray & Co. is looking to engage a Junior Associate for its litigation practice in Kolkata. The role involves working on matters before the Calcutta High Court and subordinate courts, with a focus on commercial litigation, insolvency, constitutional law, and civil disputes. The successful candidate will be responsible for legal research, drafting, preparation for conferences, and court visits/appearances. This position offers structured compensation based on experience level, with clear growth potential.

Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled with the State Bar Council.
  • AIBE (All India Bar Examination) cleared is mandatory.
  • Candidates with lower court/basic litigation experience are also eligible to apply.
  • Strong interest in litigation, legal research, and drafting.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Kolkata.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting legal research on matters relating to commercial litigation, insolvency, constitutional law, and civil disputes.
  • Drafting pleadings, petitions, applications, and case briefs.
  • Preparing for client conferences and court hearings.
  • Attending court visits and making appearances before the Calcutta High Court and subordinate courts as required.
  • Assisting senior advocates in case strategy and matter coordination.

Duration:
Full-time, permanent position (subject to successful completion of probation period).

Compensation Structure:

  • Freshers: ₹10,000 per month during probation (may be increased to ₹15,000 upon satisfactory performance).
  • Around one year High Court experience: ₹20,000 – ₹25,000 per month.
  • More than 1 year experience: Up to ₹30,000 per month.
  • Candidates with lower court/basic litigation experience: ₹15,000 per month during probation (3 months), with salary revisions based on performance.
