It undertakes rigorous legal research, supports legislative and policy development at both Central and State levels, and produces independent research on key areas of legal reform that are critical to India’s future.

About the Role

Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow under its Charkha Team / Institutional Research Pool. This is a full-time, on-site position based in New Delhi, offering an opportunity to work closely on constitutional and public law research while contributing to Vidhi’s broader institutional work across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct high-quality legal research, analysis, and drafting in constitutional and public law

Prepare reports, position papers, research notes, and presentations for engagement with government officials, academics, and other stakeholders

Write articles and blogs, and contribute to podcasts or other audio-visual research dissemination platforms

Work collaboratively across teams as part of Vidhi’s institutional pool of researchers, based on organisational requirements and individual strengths

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Law

0–1 year of demonstrable work experience in legal research, academia, or litigation

Bilingual fluency in an Indian language

Excellent legal research and writing/drafting skills

Strong communication and presentation abilities

Highly organised, detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of meeting deadlines

Desirable Qualifications

Master’s degree in Law, preferably with a focus on Constitutional Law

Prior engagement with civil society organisations and diverse stakeholders

Demonstrable research output or publications

Ability to explain complex constitutional law issues clearly and accessibly

Experience in public speaking

Remuneration

The position offers competitive remuneration, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and aligned with Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy’s internal compensation structure.
